Carbohydrate chemistry.
Information on the carbohydrates is presented under the following headings: the carbohydrates, including soluble carbohydrates (monosaccharides and disaccharides, α-galactosides, and cyclitols), polysaccharides (starch and fibre fraction) and other carbohydrate components (lignin and saponins); and chemical analysis of the carbohydrates, including soluble carbohydrates (standards, extraction of soluble carbohydrates from seeds, high performance gas chromatography, HPLC, thin layer chromatography, capillary zone electrophoresis and other analytical methods), polysaccharides (starch and fibre fraction) and other carbohydrate components (pectin, lignin and saponins).
