This chapter identifies 4 situations when human and environmental health in the USA are perceived as seriously threatened by agriculture: water pollution from large confined feeding operations; pesticide applications; wetland alterations; and endangered species habitat alteration. In these situations the public has supported the regulation of agriculture. The regulation of genetically modified organisms and animal welfare are limited. The impact of environmental and human-health legislation is then discussed.
