Chapter 12 (Page no: 197)

Leisure participation and time-use surveys: Poland.

This chapter concentrates on changes that took place in Polish leisure after 1989, when the communist system collapsed. The changes are also compared to the situation that existed in the 1970s and 1980s, to trace the roots of the processes that shaped the 1990s, using mainly public available statistics. Sections discuss patterns in: time use; household leisure spending and access to leisure equipment; and cultural participation and leisure provision. The globalizing effects of tourism and the rapid growth of the internet are also highlighted.
