Chapter 8 (Page no: 104)

Tourism in the Czech Republic.

This chapter examines current patterns and trends in Czech tourism in terms of the administration of tourism, foreign exchange receipts and expenditure, inbound and outbound travel, method of transport, and the role of budget airlines. It also explores the impacts of EU accession on tourism development in the Czech Republic. It is indicated that the enlargement of the EU has brought new dimensions to inbound as well as to outbound travel in the Czech Republic. The 20% increase in the EU population as a result of the 2004 enlargement has created new tourism demand supported by harmonized legislation, quality standards and norms, investments in infrastructure, and enhanced methods of transport and distribution.
