Chapter 5 (Page no: 239)

Contracts and organizations as a basis of market development.

This chapter analyses product structures and the institutional framework in niche markets for recreational and environmental services (RES) of forest enterprises. In particular, it (i) describes practical market solutions and provides ideas and tips for forest enterprises to start their own RES-product business; (ii) describes contract structures and their legal framework in detail and presents ideas for completing contracts to the enterprises; and (iii) explains hypotheses of institutional economics (especially transaction cost theory) using case studies (drawn from the EU research project "Niche Markets for Recreational and Environmental Services from Multiple Forest Production Systems") and tests their usefulness to explain market structures for RES products.
