Chapter 10 (Page no: 84)

Effects of personal and trip characteristics on holiday choice.

This chapter examines the role and relevance of personal and trip characteristics in the holiday choice of British visitors (n=505) to Alanya, Turkey. The personal and trip related characteristics examined are gender, age, marital status, education, origin country, revisiting patterns, experience levels, length of stay, hotel types, boarding types, and hotel locations. The study identified three types of tourists based on revisiting patterns: first-timers to the main destination (Turkey); repeaters to the main destination, but first-timers to the resort area; and repeaters to the resort area. Length of stay, hotel location, education level and origin country were found to have a certain degree of influence, while gender has no influence.
