Pests, diseases and weeds.

This chapter describes some pineapple soil-borne pests (including nematodes and arthropods) and pathogens of the roots; weeds; pests and pathogens of the shoot and fruit; and their management, using cultural, chemical, biological, genetic (breeding for resistance and genetic engineering) control methods. A tabulated list is also given of pineapple pests, diseases and weeds, with their distribution in commercial pineapple production areas.
