Part I (chapters 1-11) deals with definitions of adventure tourism, the globalization of adventure tourism, adventure tourism research, the customer profile, product development, management issues, risk and safety management, the evolution of adventure, cultural perspectives on adventure tourism, adventure lifestyles, and sustainability in adventure tourism. Part II (chapters 12-18) presents cases which provide an overview of the adventure industry and insights into the motivations and requirements necessary to work within the sector. Some of the cases deal with current adventure tourism topics and challenges, while others illustrate the essential elements of running a successful adventure tourism company.
