Faecal-oral diseases.
This chapter discusses the aetiology, clinical features, diagnosis, transmission, incubation period, period of communicability, occurrence and distribution, control and prevention (e.g., hygiene, sanitation, vaccination, safe water supply), treatment (e.g., oral rehydration, drug therapy) and surveillance of faecal-oral group of diseases including gastroenteritis, rotavirus infection, cryptosporidiosis, cholera, bacillary dysentery (shigellosis), giardiasis, amoebiasis, typhoid, paratyphoid, hepatitis A, hepatitis E, poliomyelitis and enterobiasis.
