Involving the communities and civil society.

This chapter describes how the Char Development and Settlement Project in Bangladesh is involving and empowering the char communities in different ways to continue the development of their area. The roles of local government institutions, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and field-level institutions are discussed. Also briefly discussed are the activities of partner NGOs in health and family planning, micro-credit and capacity development, climate change and disaster management, water and sanitation, legal and human rights (LHR) awareness building, homestead agriculture and value chain development, fisheries, and poultry and livestock programme.
