Production, breeding & genetics

Production, breeding and genetics

Increasing livestock productivity is vital to food security and sustainable rural development. Global consumption of animal products such as meat, milk and eggs is rapidly expanding, with approximately one third of the global crop land being used to produce animal feeds.

CABI has a long tradition of providing scientific information in the field of animal science, dating back to 1933. Our information helps livestock farmers, extension workers, animal scientists and policy makers improve the livelihoods of the world’s poor, and mitigate the impact of large scale livestock operations on the environment.

Our resources, such as Animal Health & Production Compendium, cover all aspects of animal science, including husbandry, breeding, welfare, behaviour, genetics, molecular genetics, reproductive biotechnology, reproduction and reproductive diseases, as well as rural development.
